Offshore oil production in deep water sites is the source of challenging problems and the origin of new and creative solutions. The International Symposium on Offshore Engineering is held every two years to enable researchers and specialists to present new experiences, ideas and solutions carried out in the field. This volume brings together scientific and technical contributions from private and state companies, research institutions and universities around the world. These contributions illustrate recent advances in offshore and ocean engineering, and encompass theoretical, computational, experimental and practical considerations.
This text presents ideas and experiences from work carried out in the field of offshore engineering worldwide. It contains the proceedings of the Tenth International Symposium on Offshore Engineering, held in September 1997.
Bridging the gap between texts which cover complex technical aspects of information technology and those that concentrate solely on business and management techniques, this book provides a down-to-earth but detailed analysis of the transition from the traditional business organisation to a more competitive framework.
Produced by the International Federation of Institutes for Advanced Study. Specialists from Europe and Latin America compare key aspects of science and technology policy in both the developed (North) and developing (South) world. The areas covered are off-shore oil industrialization, information technology, the impact of international biotechnology diffusion, and priorities in science and technology policy.
