Rethinking Standards through Teacher Preparation Partnerships

2003 CHOICE Outstanding Academic Title This book documents six exemplary teacher preparation programs participating in school-university partnerships in an effort to examine issues of standards in teacher education. It describes how attention to standards has played out in contrasting demographic, political, and intellectual contexts. The authors reveal the realities and consequences involved in the complex process of implementing standards in varied program contexts often having to reconcile external mandates with the needs of their students and their own program values. Working in pairs, teacher educators formed critical friend research partnerships focused on assessment, inquiry, equity, diversity, and technology. Institutional partnerships discussed include: The University of Louisville with University of Southern Maine; Teachers College, Columbia University with University of California, Santa Barbara; and University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee with Wheelock College.

Phoenix Leadership for Business: An Executive's Strategy for Relevance and Resilience provides a brand new, innovative concept, that of the Phoenix Leader, with proven strategies and approaches to evolve your leadership approach to one that is flexib...

In this book, first published in 1985, Ernest G. Bormann explores mass persuasion in America from 1620 to 1860, examining closely four rhetorical communities: the revivals of 1739-1740, the hot gospel of the postrevolutionary period, the evangelical revival and reform of the 1830s, and the Free Soil and Republican parties. Each community varies greatly, but Bormann asserts that each succeeding community shares a rhetorical vision of restoring the "American Dream" that is essentially a modification of the previous visions. Thus, they form a family of rhetorical visions that constitutes a rhetorical tradition of importance in nineteenth-century American popular culture.

Dr. Sue Ann Parrish, who has battled and won against cancer, has loved and lost enough. She will have her children and grandchildren, but her world is empty without Custer’s Native American wisdom and vitality. Mountains of Memories and Myths

Where did you come from? How did you get here? These questions came from people who had not seen black skiers before.
