The International Conference of Humanities and Social Science (ICHSS) 2021 aims to encourage and provide opportunities for researchers and academics to exchange views and opinions, answer and debate policy-relevant issues, and produce academic research outputs on important topics language. ICHSS is an Indonesian Language Education Doctoral Program Alumni Association program, Sebelas Maret University, Surakarta. The basic idea to encourage research in the linguistic sciences is to have maximum research impact on education, culture, social, arts and humanities, language and literature, religion, gender and children, and literacy. It also aims to improve coordination between academics & scholars, stakeholders and policymakers.

Mayasari-Hoffert examines the depiction of the Left in Indonesian literature since the anti-leftist purge in 1965. With close textual analysis of Indonesian literary texts and their political context, this book investigates how the New Order regime under Suharto was able to build a metanarrative of liberation while purging the Left in Indonesia. Even after the regime’s end in 1998, many Indonesians still have an ingrained fear of the prospect of Communism, with the result being that literary representation of the Left is still seen as problematic. Through reviewing Indonesia’s institution of literature, the use and abuse of universal humanism under the New Order regime is examined, and the ways in which power intersects with literature is explored. An informative read for scholars and students of Indonesian politics, literature, and the cultural cold war.
Language authentic assessment emphasizes the language production ability more than theory only (linguistics competence) in daily communication to meet various needs of the students. Since most of the teachers especially in Lubuklinggau South Sumatera were still unfamiliar with authentic assessment ( based on the preliminary study by the researcher), therefore, it was important to familiarize them to enable them in assessing the learners authentically and properly, especially in English based on K-’13 curriculum requirements. During conducting this research, English teachers seemed so thankful to have such a chance to know and experience much about the authenticity of learning that was biased from learning assessment. They can state now that good learning producing by good assessment, authentic assessment conditioning authentic learning, which lies not only on the product but much more important lies on the process.

Mengetahui teori dan pendekatan pembelajaran bahasa yang cukup dalam mengajarkan bahasa merupakan faktor yang menentukan dalam keberhasilan pembelajaran bahasa. Strategi pengejaran bahasa sebagai bagian dari proses pengajaran mensyaratkan beragam langkah terencana dan sistematis. Tahapan tersebut melibatkan banyak variabel penentu seperti pengajar, peserta didik, sarana dan prasarana, serta lainnya. Buku ini ditulis dengan tujuan mengantarkan pembaca pada pemahaman dasar tentang pembelajaran bahasa asing, dengan permasalahan bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa asing dan bahasa Indonesia sebagai bahasa asing bagi orang asing. Pengajaran bahasa terutama dalam mengajarkan empat keterampilan berbahasa (menyimak, berbicara, membaca, dan menulis) mendapatkan tempat yang cukup dalam buku ini beserta bagaimana melakukan penilaian terhadap keempat keterampilan berbahasa.
