Gronwall type integral inequalities of one variable for real functions play a very important role in the Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations. The main aim of the present research monograph is to present some natural applications of Gronwall inequalities with non-linear kernels of Lipschitz type of the problems of boundedness and convergence to zero at infinity of the solutions of certain Volterra integral equations. Stability, uniform stability, uniform asymptotic stability and global asymptotic stability properties for trivial solution of certain differential system of equations are also investigated. Contents: Preface; Integral Inequalities of Gronwall Type; Inequalities for Kernels of (L)-Type; Applications to Integral Equations; Applications to Differential Equations; Index.

Attachment, Evolution, and the Psychology of Religion

In this provocative and engaging book, Lee Kirkpatrick establishes a broad, comprehensive framework for approaching the psychology of religion from an evolutionary perspective. Kirkpatrick argues that religion is a collection of byproducts of numerous psychological mechanisms and systems that evolved for other functions.

Handbook of Dissociation

Within the last decade there has been a tremendous explosion in the clinical, theoretical, and empirical literature related to the study of dissociation. Not since the work done at the tum of the century by Pierre Janet, Morton Prince, William James, and others have the psychological and medical communities shown this great an interest in describing and understanding dissociative phenomena. This volume is the result of this significant expansion. Presently, interest in the scientific and clinical progress in the field of dissociation is indicated by the following: 1. The explosion of conferences, workshops, and seminars devoted to disso ciative disorders treatment and research. 2. The emerge...

In 1844 the Auckland firm Henderson & Macfarlane swapped a ship for some 18,000 acres of land in the Whau in West Auckland. Thomas Maxwell Henderson, the senior partner and a hard-nosed Scotsmen, then proceeded to tear out the tall kauri timber from the Waitakere ranges and mill it at Henderson¿s Mill on Henderson Creek. After the mill closed in 1868, many came and left, but some stayed behind to build a life and eventually even a town. And that town became known as Henderson. These are their stories. Exploring the period 1840 to 1939, in this book you will meet Thomas Henderson himself; the Macfarlanes; William Swanson; the McLeod¿s who founded Helensville; the Corban family; the colourfu...

Adult Attachment

With contributions from leading investigators, this volume presents important theoretical and empirical advances in the study of adult attachment. Chapters take stock of the state of knowledge in the field and introduce new, testable theoretical models to guide future research. Major topics covered include stability and change of attachment orientations across the lifespan; influences of attachment on cognitive functioning; and implications for the ways individuals experience intimacy, conflict, caregiving, and satisfaction in adult relationships. Also explored are the ways attachment theory and research can inform therapy with couples and can further understanding of such significant clinical problems as PTSD and depression.
