Health Innovation and Social Justice in Brazil
This book examines the construction of an innovation system in Brazil’s health industries over the past twenty years. The authors argue that the system has remained active despite the crisis that began in 2014. However, while this crisis has led to cuts in public spending on research and health, it has simultaneously tended to stimulate local production and invention aimed at reducing deficits in the trade in medicines and medical technologies. The contributors highlight a model combining the acquisition of new technologies with social justice and the right to health, and introduce new concepts of the “nationalization” of technologies, innovation through copying and civil society regulation of industrial property and of the medicinal drug market.
From Language to Discourse
From Language to Discourse contains selected texts from the 6th and 7th Linguistics Sharing Forums, which took place at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of Universidade Nova de Lisboa, on 25th November 2011 and 23rd November 2012, respectively. The articles included in this volume present the results of ongoing research in different domains of linguistics, such as phonology, language acquisition, syntax, and terminology. It is important to mention that these papers should be seen as work in progress, given that the young researchers who authored them are not yet PhD degree holders. However, all articles have been evaluated by an academic committee prior to publication. In addition, this book also includes the publication of two papers authored by João Costa, and Maria Antónia Coutinho, senior researchers of the Linguistics Centre of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa (CLUNL).

Fernando Pessoa and the Lyric: Disquietude, Rumination, Interruption, Inspiration, Constellation is an in-depth exploration of Pessoa’s major innovations in lyric writing and thinking. This book is an original contribution to comparative literature and poetic theory that puts Pessoa side by side with several other poets. It delves into Pessoa’s poetic theory, with an emphasis on Livro do desassossego and the heteronymic drama, and discovers new approaches to reading and appreciating the lyric. Such Pessoan literary concepts as disquietude, rumination, interruption, inspiration, and constellation are carefully examined in relation to a number of different poets, yielding unprecedented results in comparative poetics.
