Minerals: Structure, Properties, Methods of Investigation
The book comprises the proceedings of the 9th Geoscience Conference for Young Scientists co-organized by the Institute of Geology and Geochemistry and the Institute of Mineralogy (Urals Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences) and Ural Federal University and held in Ekaterinburg, Russia, on February 5-8, 2018. The book is devoted to the relevant issues of crystal chemistry and mineral typomorphism; the structure and physico-chemical and technological properties of minerals; the computational modeling of mineral structure and properties. Much attention is drawn to the latest advances and applications of physical methods of investigation of mineral structure and composition, in particular, X-Ray diffraction, spectroscopic (optical, vibrational, ESR, Moessbauer, etc.) and microscopic (SEM, TEM, AFM, etc.) studies, as well as the methods of chemical and isotopic analysis. This book presents the current research trends of space and planetary mineralogy (meteorites, regolites, tektites). The book is intended explicitly for the specialists in the earth and planetary sciences.
The Indo-European Puzzle Revisited
This book examines the impact of ancient DNA research and scientific evidence on our understanding of the emergence of Indo-European languages in prehistory. Offering cutting-edge contributions from an international team of scholars, it considers the driving forces behind the Indo-European migrations during the 3rd and 2nd millenia BC. The volume explores the rise of the world's first pastoral nomads the Yamnaya Culture in the Russian Pontic steppe including their social organization, expansions, and the transition from nomadism to semi-sedentism when entering Europe. New Results and Advances in PGE Mineralogy in Various Ni-Cu-Cr-PGE Ore Systems
The book (Special Issue) presents impressive new results related to a wide spectrum of occurrences of platinum-group minerals (PGM) and natural compounds enriched in platinum-group elements (PGE), which are associated with various complexes and deposits, such as Uralian-Alaskan-type complexes, layered intrusions and placers. The geographical locations of the involved deposits and complexes include, on a truly international scale, different areas of the Urals, Western and Eastern Sayans and Gornaya Shoria in Siberia, Southern Central Asian Orogenic Belt in China, Northern Michigan, USA, South Africa and Zimbabwe, etc. Of particular interest is the first description of a new species of PGM, thalhammerite (approved by the Commission on New Minerals, Nomenclature and Classification of the International Mineralogical Association), which is a new species of palladium-silver sulfobismuthide discovered in the Noril’sk region of Russia. Additionally, comprehensive reviews, on compositional variations in Pt–Fe alloy minerals and processes of transformations of PGM in exogenic environments, are presented which will also attract attention from international readers.
The Earth's Dissipative Structures
This volume describes physical, formal mathematical and exterior (morpho-structural) manifestations of wave dynamics of the Earth, defining both its deep structural image, and the external shape of planet. In addition to the standard imagination about waves in the geological environment as short-term seismological and seismic effects, wave dynamics of the Earth are considered as long-time process, comparable to the geochronological scale. The book consists of a systematic description of the conformities discovered in the set of heterogeneous and different-order objects, which have space-related regularity and recurrence at the different levels of resolution of analysis of natural systems. For expert-geologist it includes the basis of the geodynamic wave-related concept which enables to add to the traditional concept of plate tectonics, as well as the methods of quantitative interpretation of measured geo-fields.

Lehrmedien der Kunstgeschichte
Die kunsthistorische Forschung und Lehre ist aufs Engste mit der Mediengeschichte verzahnt. Durch die Digitalisierung ergeben sich hier neue Perspektiven. Der Band wirft vor diesem Hintergrund einen differenzierten Blick auf die Vielfalt kunsthistorischer Lehrmedien, indem er nach der Geschichte, den Prämissen, aber auch den Grenzen kunsthistorischer Medienpraxis fragt.
