Mit dem Ortsfamilienbuch (OFB) soll ein Blick in die Vergangenheit des Dorfes Altenbauna geworfen werden. Welche Menschen haben seit Beginn des 17ten bis zum Anfang des 20ten Jahrhundert in Altenbauna gelebt. Welche geschichtlichen und verwandtschaftlichen Beziehungen sind vorhanden. Auch Verflechtungen zu den Nachbarorten werden aufgezeigt. Auch schon damals gab es Flüchtlinge. Entweder es kamen Menschen aus dem Ausland nach Altenbauna, oder Menschen, ja ganze Familien, wanderten aus. Das gelobte Land war Mitte der 1850ziger Jahre Amerika. Man floh vor Willkür der Mächtigen oder vor Hunger und Armut. Parallelen zu heute sind erkennbar.
