Kiki Macadoo and the Graveyard Ballerinas

When eleven-year-old Kiki MacAdoo and her talented older sister go to Mount Faylinn Dance Conservatory for the summer, they ignore the brochure’s mysterious warning that “ballets come alive” in the nearby forest. But after her sister disappears, it’s up to Kiki to brave the woods and save her sister from the ghost sylphs that dance young girls to their deaths. As Kiki unlocks the mysteries of Mount Faylinn, the ballet of the ghost sylphs, Giselle, simultaneously unfolds, and Kiki is swept away in the adventure of a lifetime.

The Poetics of Prophecy

Since the mid-1700s, poets and scholars have been deeply entangled in the project of reinventing prophecy. Moving between literary and biblical studies, this book reveals how Romantic poetry is linked to modern biblical scholarship's development. On the one hand, scholars, intellectuals, and artists discovered models of strong prophecy in biblical texts, shoring up aesthetic and nationalist ideals, while on the other, poets drew upon a counter-tradition of destabilizing, indeterminate, weak prophetic power. Yosefa Raz considers British and German Romanticism alongside their margins, incorporating Hebrew literature written at the turn of the twentieth century in the Russia Empire. Ultimately she explains the weakness of modern poet-prophets not only as a crisis of secularism but also, strikingly, as part of the instability of the biblical text itself. The life of a Christian is often a balancing act. It is a constant battle between the flesh and the spirit. Pastor Spotts has provided the reader with more than a series of meditations. The 60 daily readings encompassed in this book are instead, teachings from a pastor to his flock on how to live a balanced and healthy life in the Lord. These Crumbs from the Master's Table are just that, tiny pieces of the Word of the Lord, that bring healing to the hungry soul.

Second only to Massachusetts in furnishing troops for the Revolutionary War, New York put at least 43,645 men in the field, all of whom are identified in this work from original muster rolls and payrolls in the State Comptroller's Office, as well as from records concerning regiments of the "Line" in rolls on file in the old War Department in Washington. New York forces were divided into Lines, Levies, and Militias, and these units, combined with men from coastal privateers, totaled 43,645, but if we add the 8,237 men named in the Land Bounty Papers in this second edition, a total force of nearly 52,000 men is arrived at, all of whom are conveniently located in the index to the first volume. ...
