Have you ever loved someone with your whole heart? Even when all they seem to do is break it time and time again? Well unfortunately I have and I'm here to tell you it isn't fun at all. My name is Sadie and I'm head over heels in love with my best friend Jeremy. He says he loves me too. The problem? He says it's his Dad; I say it's my pants size. I may never know the truth but I'm starting to see that I deserve someone who can love me, not just when it's the two of us but when we are in public as well. Hey I'm Jeremy and before you get the wrong idea about me I'm here to tell you that Sadie's size has nothing to do with the reason why I want to keep our relationship a secret.... Okay, maybe it is. How do I overcome that? I love her, I really do but I can't get my father's words out of my head, along with everyone else's. I know I shouldn't care what anyone thinks, but I do. Can you help me overcome that before I lose the only girl I have ever loved?

Moneyball meets medicine in this remarkable chronicle of one of the greatest scientific quests of our time and the visionary mastermind behind it. Medical doctor and economist Christopher Murray began the Global Burden of Disease study to gain a truer understanding of how we live and how we die. While it is one of the largest scientific projects ever attempted—as breathtaking as the first moon landing or the Human Genome Project—the questions it answers are meaningful for every one of us: What are the world's health problems? Who do they hurt? How much? Where? Why? Murray argues that the ideal existence isn't simply the longest, but the one lived well and with the least illness. Until we...
The Scope of the Project The concept of holism is at the centre of far-reaching changes in various areas of philosophy in the second half of the twentieth century. Holism in epistemology and the philosophy of mind is widespread among analytic philosophers subsequent to the work of the later Wittgenstein and to Quine's "Two Dogmas of Empiricism". Roughly speaking, the claim is that (a) for a person to have beliefs, a social, linguistic community is required and that (b) single beliefs have a meaning only within a whole system of beliefs. Furthermore, holism is discussed in science, in particular in the interpretation of quantum physics. In fact, the term "holism" goes back to Smuts (1926), who introduces this term in a biological context. I Holism in any of these areas has considerable consequences for our philosophical view of the world and ourselves. Holism in quantum physics is said to refute atomism, which has been predominant in modem philosophy of nature. Holism in epistemology and the philosophy of mind is seen as an alternative to what is known as the Cartesian tradition, which dominated modem thought down to logical empiricism.

Who is Jesus Christ? These fourteen chapters answer that question in his own words: I AM the light of the world... I AM the way, the truth and the life... I AM the Good Shepherd... I AM the alpha and the omega... Why a book on the I AM sayings of Jesus? Because so much of our religious emphasis today focuses on "feeling more fulfilled..." or "improving our relationships with others." While these are important and have their place in our discussions, this book puts the emphasis on the place of God in our lives. The questions are practical: What shall I believe? What shall I do? And so Lavin writes for the people in the pews as well as for their pastors. When Ron Lavin preaches it is close to ...
