STRUKTURAL 2020
We proudly present the proceedings of 2nd International Seminar on Translation Studies, Applied Linguistics, Literature and Cultural Studies 2020 (STRUKTURAL 2020). It focuses on how disruptive era influences participants field of researches, especially in Humanities and Social Studies. As we know, the world today is changing and the world we are facing now is the one where everything is connected. Not only are our PCs, our tablets, our hand phones, and other devices connected but everything that happens in societies is also now “connected”. Today, even a robbery incident in a small village has a possibility to make a city in another part of the world collapse. This butterfly effect of social change may also give a big impact in our understanding and our field of study of social sciences and humanities. More than 70 manuscripts were presented at this conference with around 41 of them selected to be published in proceedings. We hope by this conference, discussions on how research on humanities and social studies is possible in a disruptive era will give a perspective for the social and humanities studies development.

English for Islamic Studies
English for Islamic Studies is written to fulfill students’ needs to learn English as a preparatory for job communication. This book is designed to provide an opportunity to develop students’ English skills more communicatively and meaningfully. It consists of twenty eight units. Each unit presents reading, writing, and speaking section. Reading section consists of pre- reading, reading comprehension and vocabulary exercises related to the topic of the text. In writing section, some structures and sentence patterns are completed with guided writing exercises. Meanwhile, in speaking section, students are provided with models and examples followed by practical activities which are presented in various ways. In addition, students are also equipped with listening comprehension skill which is presented in a separate textbook. The materials have been arranged and graded in accordance with their language levels. Variation in Indonesian Sign Language
This pioneering work on Indonesian Sign Language (BISINDO) explores the linguistic and social factors that lie behind variation in the grammatical domains of negation and completion. Using a corpus of spontaneous data from signers in the cities of Solo and Makassar, Palfreyman applies an innovative blend of methods from sign language typology and Variationist Sociolinguistics, with findings that have important implications for our understanding of grammaticalisation in sign languages. The book will be of interest to linguists and sociolinguists, including those without prior experience of sign language research, and to all who are curious about the history of Indonesia’s urban sign community. Nick Palfreyman is a Leverhulme Early Career Research Fellow at the International Institute for Sign Languages and Deaf Studies (iSLanDS), University of Central Lancashire.
