Project Management and Engineering Research
This is the Proceedings of the 20th International Congress on Project Management and Engineering, that was held at the Technical University of Cartagena, Spain, from July 13 to 15, 2016. It brings together a collection of recent works of researchers and professionals in the Project Management and Engineering fields of Civil Engineering and Urban Planning, Product and Process Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energies and Safety, Labour Risks and Ergonomics.

This volume features papers from the 18th International Congress on Project Management and Engineering, held by the University of Zaragoza in collaboration with the Spanish Association of Project Management and Engineering (AEIPRO). It illustrates the state of the art in this emerging area. Readers will discover ways to increase the effectiveness of project engineering as well as the efficiency of project management. The papers, written by international researchers and professionals, cover civil engineering and urban planning, product and process engineering, environmental engineering, energy efficiency and renewable energies, rural development, safety, labor risks and ergonomics, and training in project engineering. Selected Proceedings from the 14th International Congress on Project Engineering
The Spanish Association of Project Engineering is pleased to publish the following selection of the best papers presented at the 13th International Congress on Project Engineering. After having organized an annual Congress with an array of universities over the last 16 years —first at the national and then at the international level— by the end of 2008 the AEIPRO Directive Board decided to establish a Scientific Committee to evaluate the papers presented at the Congress. The Scientific Committee has also chosen the works to be published in the selected proceedings of the Congress. The procedures to establish the Scientific Committee and evaluate the submitted papers are explained below in detail. It is the hope of the Committee that the compiled works contribute to the improvement of project engineering research and improve the transfer of results to the job of Project Engineers.
Human Capital and Competences in Project Management
People's competence has a strong influence on the strategy of human resource management, affecting daily aspects, thought patterns, and behavioral modes of executive management and employees. From a business perspective, there is a strong relationship between human capital and success and also an integral development of the human factor in all its dimensions, both personal and professional, and social competences must be a key factor to reach it. To help achieve this business excellence, it is necessary to transfer the demands of the labor market into education, and one of the ways is through methodological framework for Project Management and Management, specifically the IPMA Individual Competence Baseline, which is an essential tool for achieving economic growth, corporate development, and competitiveness.
Tropentag 2020 – International Research on Food Security, Natural Resource Management and Rural Development
Tropentag is the largest interdisciplinary conference in Europe on development oriented research in the fields of sub-/tropical agriculture, food security, natural resource management and rural development. Taking place annually, Tropentag 2020 turned out to be a special challenge. Originally planned to take place in Prague, the Corona pandemic did not allow presence in or travel to Prague for prospective participants. ATSAF took on the challenge to organise a virtual Tropentag based on Zoom meetings being streamed on YouTube channels using the Whova as online conference platform from September 7 to 9, 2020.
