Who Was Who on TV

The information herein was accumulated of fifty some odd years. The collection process started when TV first came out and continued until today. The books are in alphabetical order and cover shows from the 1940s to 2010. The author has added a brief explanation of each show and then listed all the characters, who played the roles and for the most part, the year or years the actor or actress played that role. Also included are most of the people who created the shows, the producers, directors, and the writers of the shows. These books are a great source of trivia information and for most of the older folk will bring back some very fond memories. I know a lot of times we think back and say, "Who was the guy that played such and such a role?" Enjoy!

"For Jared Dauman, being rich means being able to wear his heart on his Savile Row sleeve and nurture his obsession. For Ellis Peregory, being conventional means not being able to admit to his own desires. Both of them need something to happen. For Ellis that 'something' ideally equals inheriting the most productive farmland in Wales - Hayden Castle and its estate. Here, Angela Stearne - the 'killingly gorgeous' married woman who draws others to her like a fire - attends a house party and finds herself on the set of a grand opera. One where all the cast have their own hidden connections, hopes and desires. But they all join in the same chorus: 'Happiness can seem about as likely as growing mangoes on the moon'. Pantomime aristocrats, ex-lovers and would-be lovers, the compulsive philanderer and the obligatory decoy female - all meet and collide in the country house setting by the River Wye. Theirs is a world where betrayal is signalled by an ill-fitting bracelet from Tiffany's, where the secret of married life seems to depend on perfect soft furnishings and where there are precisely ninety-nine steps between heaven and hell. Or between the mistress with small wrists and no

Bodies of Knowledge

Spanning the countries of South Africa, Swaziland, and Ghana, this collection of work brings into focus child and youth experience together as a collage of anthropology, creative writing, poetry, and the fine arts. Woven together by questions related to the political economy of child and youth well-being, identity formation, and the multiple layers through which children articulate their health-narrative, ‘ Bodies of Knowledge’ considers living in and coping with chronic illness, spirit-possession, and death. The growth in Critical Health Humanities and the Arts globally, suggests the desire for blended efforts to draw in a wider breadth of knowledge that cuts across the divided worlds of critical social science and the arts. This book, set in an African context, offers myriad possibilities for cross-disciplinary synergies as learning sites. It is a critical contribution to the field of children and childhood studies.

Shakespeare and Community Performance

This book explores how productions of Shakespearean plays create meaning in specific communities, with special attention to issues of access, adaptation, and activism. Instead of focusing on large professional companies, it analyzes performances put on by community theatres and grassroots companies, and in applied drama projects. It looks at Shakespearean productions created by marginalized populations in Greater London, Harlem, and Los Angeles, a Hamlet staged in the remote Faroe Islands, and eco-theatre made in California’s Yosemite National Park. The book investigates why different communities perform Shakespeare, and what challenges, opportunities, and triumphs accompany the processes of theatrical production for both the artists and the communities in which they are embedded.
