Summary Catalogue of European Decorative Arts in the J. Paul Getty Museum
J. Paul Getty had a passion for the exquisitely made furniture and decorative objects of eighteenth-century France, which he began collecting in the 1930s. Gillian Wilson, curator of decorative arts since 1971, has broadened and strengthened the collection, adding Boulle furniture, mounted oriental porcelain, tapestries, clocks, ceramics, and more. Ethnicity and Citizenship
The essays in this volume analyze both the components of citizenship in Canada and the diversity of attitudes concerning it from the interdisciplinary perspectives of political science, sociology, history, public law, and psychology. A number of related themes are addressed: the reciprocal nature of the relationship between legal (political) and societal (ethnic) citizenship; the conflict of identities for members of Anglophone and Francophone, native and immigrant, and European and 'indigenous' subcultures; the rivalry between federal and provincial orientations; and the processes of identity change resulting from shared experiences and interactions.
