Esta obra tem origem em projetos de pesquisa e extensão do Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia do Rio Grande do Grande do Sul (IFRS), Campus Sertão. No início de 2019, pesquisadores se reuniram para formar um grupo de pesquisa em inovação social (IS).
