Stunting bukan penyakit yang dapat menular dan menjadi penyebab kematian seperti penyakit COVID-19. Tetapi stunting dapat menyebabkan anak tidak memiliki masa depan yang cerah, serta mampu menghambat masa depan bangsa. Hal ini dikarenakan, anak stunting dapat mengalami gangguan otak, kecerdasan, gangguan pertumbuhan fisik, dan gangguan metabolisme dalam tubuh. Dapat menurunkan kemampuan kognitif dan prestasi belajar, menurunkan kekebalan tubuh sehingga mudah sakit, risiko tinggi munculnya penyakit diabetes, kegemukan, penyakit jantung dan pembuluh darah, kanker, stroke dan disabilitas pada usia tua, serta kualitas kerja yang tidak kompetitif dan akan menghasilkan rendahnya kualitas sumber daya manusia (SDM). Pemberian makan di masa golden age dengan pola asuh pemberian makan yang tepat merupakan langkah tepat dalam mencegah stunting dan masalah gizi lainnya.
