"Siyavush of Our Century" was written by political visionary Mammad Amin Rasulzadeh (1884-1955) who headed the Musavat Party and helped set up the Azerbaijan parliamentary democratic republic in 1918, the first such republic of Turks and Muslims in the eastern world. The turmoil of the times, however, proved too much for Rasulzadeh's young government. On April 25, 1920, Bolshevik troops crossed into Azerbaijan and entered Baku on April 28. They demanded the resignation of Azerbaijan's Parliament and set up their own government. The fledgling democracy, in only its 23rd month, collapsed immediately. Azerbaijan remained under communist rule until the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. "Siyavush of Our Century" is a unique work of politics & history, philosophy & literature founded upon the ancient myths and legends of the Turkik peoples. It was written in July 1920 and first published in Istanbul in 1925. It is widely recognised as a classic by the people of Azerbaijan.

Public Policies in Media and Information Literacy in Europe

Public Policies in Media and Information Literacy in Europe explores the current tensions in European countries as they attempt to tackle the transition to the digital age, providing a comparative and cross-cultural analysis of Media and Information Literacy (MIL) across Europe. A survey of the architecture and history of the Tao-Klarjeti region. This book, comprising the proceedings of a 2014 symposium at Koç University's Vehbi Koç Ankara Studies Research Center, fills an important gap in the research surrounding the historical principality of Tao-Klarjeti. This political entity founded by the Georgian Bagrationis dynasty in the early ninth century covers the modern-day provinces of Artvin, Erzurum (partially), Ardahan in Turkey, and the provinces of Samtskhe-Javakheti and Ajara in Georgia. This volume explores the religious and secular buildings, decor programs, facade articulations, stone reliefs of monastic and Cathedral churches, mason builders, and donors of Tao-Klarjeti's architecture. A particular focus is placed on recent archaeological discoveries in Şavşat Castle and the heritage of manuscripts produced in scriptoriums and literary centers of the region.

The Republic of Love

Focusing on three entertainers who have become national icons Martin Stokes offers a portrait of Turkish identity that is very different from the official version of anthems and flags. In particular, he discusses how a Turkish concept of love has been developed through the work of the singers and the public reaction to them.
