O propósito do presente volume centra-se no debate sobre um período histórico ainda pouco conhecido: a Antiguidade Tardia. Para tal, especialistas em diferentes temas apresentam resultados de investigação sobre algumas área sectoriais: os padrões de povoamento e a arquitectura dos lugares de habitação; a cultura material; a chegada do Cristianismo; e o mundo funerário. Os contributos abarcam o território peninsular, procurando ainda paralelos e leituras com o espaço do Mediterrâneo. The aim of the present volume is to discuss one historical moment that is still insufficiently known: Late Antiquity. For this, specialists present their research in some specific subjects: settlement patterns and sites architecture; material culture; the arrival of Christianity; funerary data. All the Iberian peninsula is concerned, searching for parallels with the Mediterranean basin.
Las emociones en la historia
Las emociones se hallan en la base del ser humano en sus afectos y en sus ambiciones políticas, en sus decisiones económicas, en sus opciones religiosas y culturales. Las emociones constituyen uno de los elementos sociopolíticos de atracción/reacción fundamentales para la construcción del ser humano en comunidad. ¿En toda comunidad, en todo tiempo? ¿Funcionan las emociones de manera similar en diferentes períodos históricos, en diferentes culturas y sociedades? A partir del trabajo de investigación de un grupo de profesores y jóvenes investigadoras e investigadores de la Facultad de Ciencias de la Educación y Humanidades (Campus de Cuenca) de la Universidad de Castila-La Mancha, se persigue dar a conocer lo que las emociones han representado en la historia, enfatizando la explicación accesible a todos y, con ello, una perspectiva divulgativa fundamental para iniciar al gran público en estos estudios y animarlo a profundizar en ellos.
Pompeian Households
Studies of Pompeian material culture have traditionally been dominated by art-historical approaches, but recently there has been a renewed and burgeoning interest in Pompeian houses for studies of Roman domestic behavior. This book is concerned with contextualized Pompeian household artifacts and their role in deepening our understanding of household behavior at Pompeii. It consists of a study of the contents of thirty so-called atrium houses in Pompeii to investigate the spatial distribution of household activities, both within each architectural room type and across the house. It also uses this material to investigate the state of occupancy of these houses at the time of the eruption of Mt Vesuvius in AD 79. It thus examines artifact assemblages within their spatial and decorative contexts for a more material cultural approach to these remains and for the information which they provide on living conditions in Pompeii during the last decades. In this it takes a critical perspective the textual nomenclature which is traditionally applied to Pompeian room types.
