We are currently witnessing a significant transformation in the development of education on all levels and especially in post-secondary education. To face these challenges, higher education must find innovative ways to quickly respond to these new needs. These were the aims connected with the 25th International Conference on Interactive Collaborative Learning (ICL2022), which was held in Vienna, Austria, from September 27 to 30, 2022. Since its beginning in 1998, this conference is devoted to new approaches in learning with a focus on collaborative learning in higher education. This book contains papers in the fields of: • Collaborative Learning• Digital Transition in Education• Technology Enhanced Learning• Advances in Machine and Technology Enhanced Learning• Educational Virtual Environments• Flipped Classrooms• Games in Engineering Education• Entrepreneurship in Engineering Education Interested readership includes policymakers, academics, educators, researchers in pedagogy and learning theory, school teachers, the learning industry, further and continuing education lecturers, etc.
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the seven workshops co-located with the 14th International Conference on Practical Applications of Agents and Multi-Agent Systems, PAAMS 2016, held in Sevilla, Spain, in June 2016.The 37 full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 77 submissions. The volume presents the papers that have been accepted for the following workshops: Workshop on Agents and Multi-Agent Systems for AAL and e-Health; Workshop on Agent-Based Solutions for Manufacturing and Supply Chain; Workshop on MAS for Complex Networks and Social Computation; Workshop on Decision Making in Dynamic Information Environments; Workshop on Intelligent Systems for Context-based Information Fusion; Workshop on Multi-Agent based Applications for Smart Grids and Sustainable Energy Systems; Workshop on Multiagent System based Learning Environments.
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the First International Workshop, SOCIALEDU 2015, held in Stanford, CA, USA, in August 2015. The workshop aimed to discuss computational models of social computing applied to Digital Education. The 9 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 12 submissions. The papers address issues such as novel data mining and machine learning for social intelligence in digital education.- Social modelling and simulation to investigate social behaviours, emotional intelligence, influence processes and other social aspects that may influence learning performance in an educational environment.- Smart environments and interactive systems of social computing in digital education.- Analysis of social media and media intelligence in digital education.- Mobile social gaming in digital education.- The utilization of mobile and wearable technology in social systems in digital education, and others.
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the workshops which complemented the 13th International Conference on Practical Applications of Agents and Multi-Agent Systems, PAAMS 2015, held in Salamanca, Spain, in June 2015. The 36 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 91 submissions. This volume presents the papers that have been accepted for the following workshops: Workshop on Agents and multi-agent Systems for AAL and e-HEALTH, Workshop on Agent-Based Solutions for Manufacturing and Supply Chain, Workshop on MAS for Complex Networks and Social Computation, Workshop on Intelligent Systems for Context-based Information Fusion, Workshop on Multi-agent based Applications for Smart Grids and Sustainable Energy Systems, Workshop on Multiagent System based Learning Environments, Workshop in Intelligent Human-Agent Societies.
Online education has become a major component of higher education worldwide. In mathematics and statistics courses, there exists a number of challenges that are unique to the teaching and learning of mathematics and statistics in an online environment. These challenges are deeply connected to already existing difficulties related to math anxiety, conceptual understanding of mathematical ideas, communicating mathematically, and the appropriate use of technology. Teaching and Learning Mathematics Online bridges these issues by presenting meaningful and practical solutions for teaching mathematics and statistics online. It focuses on the problems observed by mathematics instructors currently wo...
The digital revolution necessitates, but also makes possible, radical changes in how and what we learn. This book describes a set of innovative educational research projects at the MIT Media Laboratory, illustrating how new computational technologies can transform our conceptions of learning, education, and knowledge. The book draws on real-world education experiments conducted in formal and informal contexts: from inner-city schools and university labs to neighborhoods and after-school clubhouses. The papers in this book are divided in four interrelated sections as follows: * Perspectives in Constructionism further develops the intellectual underpinnings of constructionist theory. This sect...
This book presents conventions, mathematical concepts, definitions and applications central to the geometric modeling of solids, shells and wires (engineering jargon) embedded in 3D space. Currently, software is available for geometric modeling of technical or natural scenarios. However, the models built frequently fail in supporting the subsequent engineering computing and simulations. Only after repeated iterations and re-design, the models permit engineering / science simulations. This book endows the reader with the basic mathematical concepts needed to ensure that the geometric models indeed stand the stages of physics simulation, manufacturing, etc., and rapidly applies the concepts on engineering and science geometric models.
