Computational Science – ICCS 2023
The five-volume set LNCS 14073-14077 constitutes the proceedings of the 23rd International Conference on Computational Science, ICCS 2023, held in Prague, Czech Republic, during July 3-5, 2023. Retrenchment in the American Welfare State
The consolidation of public finance has become the most prevalent topic in recent policy discourse in the US. However, the political debate about fiscal "belt-tightening" stretches back to the last decades of the past millennium, induced by deteriorating economic conditions which followed the first oil price shock in the early 1970s. Retrenchment in the American Welfare State investigates to what extent different welfare state programs in the US were affected by cutbacks during the Republican Reagan era, on the one hand, and during the Democratic Clinton era on the other, and to what extent these cutbacks reveal certain "patterns" of retrenchment, and how the measured discrepancies can best be explained. Much of economic and business history research neglects family businesses, considering them an inefficient form of business organization. From Bioinspired Systems and Biomedical Applications to Machine Learning
The two volume set LNCS 11486 and 11487 constitutes the proceedings of the International Work-Conference on the Interplay Between Natural and Artificial Computation, IWINAC 2019, held in Almería, Spain,, in June 2019. The total of 103 contributions was carefully reviewed and selected from 190 submissions during two rounds of reviewing and improvement. The papers are organized in two volumes, one on understanding the brain function and emotions, addressing topics such as new tools for analyzing neural data, or detection emotional states, or interfacing with physical systems.
