Information and communication technologies (ICTs) are increasingly being recognized as essential tools of development--tools that can empower poor people, enhance skills, increase productivity and improve governance at all levels. The success of ICT-enabled development (or e-development) will thus not be measured by the diffusion of technology, but by advances in development itself: economic growth and, ultimately, achievement of the Millenium Development Goals. This volume examines a wide range of issues related to e-development, with a focus on the requirements and realities of using ICTs to advance development goals. The report does not attempt to present a comprehensive overview of e-development. Rather, it highlights key issues that have immediate relevance to policy makers in developing nations who make decisions on investments and development goals. It highlights two issues in particular, e-government and e-education, because ICT applications in these areas can lead to significant development outcomes and can also be successfully deployed through public-private partnerships, leveraging limited government funding to achieve greater impact.

General Pedagogy: A Guide to Effective Teaching demystifies the scientific art of teaching by providing facts, principles and concrete examples in real life situations such that neither the novice teacher who peruses it will stutter in front of students on the first day of school, nor will the experienced teacher write and execute the same old lesson plans on that day. The best teachers are those who show you where to look but dont tell you what to see, is a popular quote attributed to Alexandra K. Trenfor, which aptly summarises the kind of teachers this book intends to produce when used as a teacher training resource. Real teachers facilitate learning; they do not simply tell learners the ...
This book is about questions. The fundamental process through which it was created is an extended and in-depth dialogue. That dialogue took place over a two-year period involving researchers, lifelong learners, educators, and thinkers. The publication of the dialogue in the form of this unique book addresses the authors’ peer community: the learners, teachers, researchers and policymakers who will take the dialogue forward and contribute to its further growth.

What about the quality of online offerings - do schools continue to believe that it measures up?The survey analysis is based on a comprehensive nationwide sample of primary campuses for all active United States postsecondary degree granting institutions that are open to the public.
