This volume is the twelfth classified bibliography of organic, organometallic and metal complex crystal structures prepared by the Cambridge Crystallographic Data Centre and published jointly with the International Union of Crystallo graphy. The previous eleven volumes covered the years 1935-79; the present volume provides references principally to structure analyses reported in the literature during 1979 and 1980. A few structures reported prior to 1979 and omitted from earlier volumes are also inc1uded here. The Foundations for Provenance on the Web
Provenance, i.e., the origin or source of something, is becoming an important concern, since it offers the means to verify data products, to infer their quality, and to decide whether they can be trusted. For instance, provenance enables the reproducibility of scientific results; provenance is necessary to track attribution and credit in curated databases; and, it is essential for reasoners to make trust judgements about the information they use over the Semantic Web. As the Web allows information sharing, discovery, aggregation, filtering and flow in an unprecedented manner, it also becomes difficult to identify the original source that produced information on the Web. This survey contends that provenance can and should reliably be tracked and exploited on the Web, and investigates the necessary foundations to achieve such a vision.
Progress in Surgery of the Liver, Pancreas and Biliary System
This book reflects a broad spectrum of current opinions and progress in the surgical management of liver, pancreatic and biliary disease. The enormous advances in diagnostic imaging techniques and in interven tional, radiological and biliary approaches, the pathophysiological problems and their management manifest often as complications in the post-operative period, new techniques and the results of surgical approaches are all thorough ly documented. Historical background is commented upon by Dr. Kenneth Warren of Boston in the first chapter. Subsequent chapters deal with a variety of subjects but always emphasizing differences of opinion and approach and maintaining the discussive environment so typical to the present-day approach to the topic. Professor Bengmark's efforts to introduce a forum for wide discussion for diseases of the liver, pancreas and biliary tract and many recent advances in research and technology to aspects of the clinical management and outcome of patients is well rewarded in this balanced publication. Advances in this field of surgery have been and continue to be so rapid that such documentation is not only necessary but very welcome.
