Neste livro defendemos que a tarefa ético-política do ensino de filosofia no ensino médio técnico seja o de proporcionar a aprendizagem do exercício de si por meio de uma prática filosófica que se realiza em uma tensão agonística do coabitar problemas. Neste trabalho procuramos refletir sobre o ensino de filosofia como uma prática existencial, isto porque, tradicionalmente, o ensino de filosofia tem sido analisado sob o víeis dos processos pedagógicos “do que ensinar?” (reflexão sobre conteúdos) e “como ensinar em filosofia?” (reflexão sobre metodologias), no entanto, nossa proposta é de deslocamento das questões de ensino-aprendizagem para pensar a filosofia e seu ensino como uma atitude (êthos filosófico), ou seja, como um exercício de si que transforma a vida. E nesse exercício sobre a vida como criação de experiências singulares e de atitudes peculiares, a filosofia tem um papel indispensável na formação de uma educação para a diferença, confrontando o atual cenário de crescimento de comportamentos preconceituosos e de espaços de intolerância.
