Tackling Multiple Sclerosis

William Franklin Hickson III grew up in Orangeburg, South Carolina, a college town with a strong middle-class community of African-Americans. If he and his friends were not going to football games or watching football on television, they were playing football. They even had their own league—the FYFL—or the Front Yard Football League. As one of the first black players in the youth sports programs at the Orangeburg Recreation Department, he learned valuable lessons about teamwork, leadership, and respect. A high school injury prevented him from enjoying the type of college career he wanted—and so he turned to coaching. In the early 1990s, however, he began suffering health problems and was given the nonspecific diagnosis of multiple sclerosis. In this memoir, he shares his golden opportunities to lead, his big dreams and disappointments, his setbacks and achievements—and how his faith, determination, optimism, and love for family led him to succeed in his chosen profession. Join the author as he opens up about his inspiring fight against MS and how a lifetime of football and faith helped him move the chains.

Ludwig's Applied Process Design for Chemical and Petrochemical Plants Incorporating Process Safety Incidents, Fifth Edition, Volume One is ever evolving and provides improved techniques and fundamental design methodologies to guide the practicing engineer in designing process equipment and applying chemical processes to properly detailed hardware. Like its predecessor, this new edition continues to present updated information for achieving optimum operational and process conditions and avoiding problems caused by inadequate sizing and lack of internally detailed hardware. The volume provides both fundamental theories, where applicable, and direct application of these theories to applied equa...

Guidelines for Pressure Relief and Effluent Handling Systems

Providing in-depth guidance on how to design and rate emergency pressure relief systems, Guidelines for Pressure Relief and Effluent Handling Systems incorporates the current best designs from the Design Institute for Emergency Relief Systems as well as American Petroleum Institute (API) standards. Presenting a methodology that helps properly size all the components in a pressure relief system, the book includes software with the CCFlow suite of design tools and the new Superchems for DIERS Lite software, making this an essential resource for engineers designing chemical plants, refineries, and similar facilities. Access to Software Access the Guidelines for Pressure Relief and Effluent Handling Software and documents using a web browser at: http://www.aiche.org/ccps/PRTools Each folder will have a readme file and installation instructions for the program. After downloading SuperChems™ for DIERS Lite the purchaser of this book must contact the AIChE Customer Service with the numeric code supplied within the book. The purchaser will then be supplied with a license code to be able to install and run SuperChems™ for DIERS Lite. Only one license per purchaser will be issued.

Don Revie and Brian Clough were born a brisk walk away from each other in Middlesbrough, in 1927 and 1935 respectively. They were brought up in a town ravaged by the Depression and went on to become highly successful professional footballers. Then, as young managers, they both took clubs languishing in the doldrums (Leeds United and Derby County) and moulded them into championship winners. Despite the myriad similarities, these two sons of the Tees were as different in character as Richard Nixon and John F. Kennedy. A bitter rivalry developed between them, which in turn enlivened and then blighted English football in the 1960s and '70s. In Clough and Revie, exclusive interviews with players, relatives and friends shed fresh light on these two intriguing characters. Part footballing chronicle, part social history, the book is a revelatory exploration of the rivalry between the two men. It brings a fresh perspective on their early years in the North-East, tells how they nearly became teammates and explains why the feud began and what its repercussions were.

Gregory J. Page, the author of Tale of Two Champions, comes from the same great state as Homer Hickam. Greg will tell you his story of how great challenges confronted him and his community. Take the journey with Greg as he reveals in great detail how both Buffalo and Marshall Football overcame tremendous adversity to win their first State and National Championship in 1992. You also get an inside view of a West Virginia country boy growing up in Wayne County. Throughout the adventure you will see how teachers and coaches from Buffalo High School provided motivation and direction for one of their own that eventually carried through to Marshall University. Greg currently teaches and coaches at Spring Valley High School and is the Associate Pastor at Locust Grove Baptist Church. The High School Gymnasium he graduated in is now a favorite place that he enjoys coaching.
