Basic Discipleship 101

For we are God's fellow-workers; you are God's field, God's building. By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an expert builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should be careful how he builds. 1 Corinthians 3:9-10 When someone starts to build a house, he first lays the foundation on which the rest of the house will be built. If the foundation is not built correctly, the rest of the building will be compromised, affecting not only its immediate use but also its longevity. The previous scripture states that the church must also lay a good foundation in new believers. The Bible contains specific teachings that form the foundation of the Christian faith. To overlo...

Advanced Discipleship 301

There is nothing we can do to coerce the Holy Spirit to reveal Himself in power. All we can do is humbly yield our lives to Him and ask that He manifest His power within us. A spiritual man knows that the Holy Spirit can do far more than he can ask or imagine. Since he believes in the power of the Holy Spirit, he acts on God's promises as reality and walk in expectation of their fulfillment.

Life By Death

I tell you the truth, unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. The man who loves his life will lose it, while the man who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. John 12:24-25 When God created mankind, they were innocent, predisposed to neither good nor evil. By creating the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, God presented mankind with a choice to either live for Him or rebel against Him. However, mankind did not perceive that they could choose until Satan taught Eve the concept of evil. God gave Adam and Eve only one command: Do not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil...

For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 2Cor.10:3-4 Today, the church has neglected to teach about the spiritual realm, for fear of being judged archaic. It has denied a key Scriptural truth: that the whole world is under the control of Satan. The church has forgotten that angels were created to serve Gods people. It has also rejected the authority Christians have as ambassadors of Christ. Finally, the church has sacrificed its power to impact the world in order to gain credibility with the world. People have chosen the religion of scienc...

Brothers, I could not address you as spiritual but as worldly --mere infants in Christ. 1 Corinthians 3:1 God created mankind spiritual beings like Himself, and God's intention was to live forever with them. Because of man's rebellion against God, man died spiritually and now lives under the powerlessness of his soul --intellect, emotion, and will. Man's intellect gathers information from the senses of the body and processes it, his emotion decides what he desires to do, and his will carries out his soul's evil intent. Even though man was spiritually separated from Him, God still desired to live among His people. God's first dwelling place was a tent called the tabernacle, and His second dwe...

Intermediate Discipleship 201

For no one can lay any foundation other than the one we already have--Jesus Christ. Anyone who builds on that foundation may use a variety of materials--gold, silver, jewels, wood, hay, or straw. But on the judgment day, fire will reveal what kind of work each builder has done. 1 Cor.3:11-13 NLT My second book of the series on discipleship builds on the foundation laid in Basic Discipleship 101. When I first received Christ into my life, I began to change dramatically. However, after the initial change, many other sins still needed to be addressed--some that proved to be more tenacious. Even though other people could not see these sins, I longed to be free from them. Driven by my guilt, I as...
