Ace of Spies

Ace of Spies reveals for the first time the true story of Sidney Reilly, the real-life inspiration behind fictional hero James Bond. Andrew Cook's startling biography cuts through the myths to tell the full story of the greatest spy the world has ever know. Sidney Reilly influenced world history through acts of extraordinary courage and sheer audacity. He was a master spy, a brilliant con man, a charmer, a cad and a lovable rogue who lived on his wits and thrived on danger, using women shamelessly and killing where necessary - and unnecessary. Sidney Reilly is one of the most fascinating spies of the twentieth century, yet he remains one of the most enigmatic - until now.

Reilly, who, despite his name, was Russian, was supposedly shot dead by Bolshevik border guards in October 1925 as he tried to cross the Finnish border into Russia. But an MI6 report released in 2002 describes how he was, in fact, shot in the back at Stalin's insistence after days of being interrogated in the Lubyanka, the Moscow headquarters of the GPU, Stalin's secret police. Reilly, who worked for MI6 as Agent ST-1, had been sentenced to death by the Bolsheviks in absentia in 1918 for his involvement in the Lockhart Plot aimed at overthrowing the Bolshevik leaders.

Sidney is ready to embark on her next adventure: to finally travel to the Red Dome and join Allendians in their ideal civilization. With new friends in tow, she learns to survive on a planet not made for Allendians, trusting that they will work together to overcome any alien critters and dangers along the way. What Sidney does not know is that the most deadly foe is not the planet and its wildlife. Sometimes friends are far from allies and sometimes, families are built from the most unlikely sources.
