2021, the annual joint workshop of the Fraunhofer IOSB and KIT IES was hosted at the IOSB in Karlsruhe. For a week from the 2nd to the 6th July the doctoral students extensive reports on the status of their research. The results and ideas presented at the workshop are collected in this book in the form of detailed technical reports.
Antioxidants in Higher Plants provides a unique blend of molecular and biochemical approaches to cover the state of the art in antioxidant function. Plants have been exposed to multiple environmental stressors on long-term (seasonal) and short-term (daily) basis since their appearance on land. However, the frequency and the intensity of stress events have increased much during the last three decades because of climate change. Transfer cells are anatomically specialized cells optimized to support high levels of nutrient transport in plants. These cells trans-differentiate from existing cell types by developing extensive and localized wall ingrowth labyrinths to amplify plasma membrane surface area which in turn supports high densities of membrane transporters.
