Memory is not an inert container but a dynamic process. It can be structured by ritual, constrained by textual genre, and shaped by communities’ expectations and reception. Urging a particular view of the past on readers is a complex rhetorical act. The collective reception of portrayals of the past often carries weighty implications for the present and future. Hydraulic fracturing is the key measure for improving recovery of unconventional oil and gas reservoirs. Prediction of fracture morphology and productivity after fracturing is critical for fracturing design and optimization. The hydraulic fracturing process is to open porous rocks by artificially injecting highly compressed fluid, and the hydraulic fracture will be closed under the compaction of in-situ stress during the production process. In this regard, hydraulic fracturing and production processes are both fluid-solid coupling processes involving fractures and porous rocks. This Research Topic aims to gather the latest studies addressing how to improve the prediction accuracy of hydraulic fracturing morphology and post-fracturing productivity through experimental and numerical investigation. The experimental research shall underline hydraulic fracturing and fracture conductivity experiments and associated experimental methods, while the numerical research shall pay particular attention to discrete fracture network models, including the calculation efficiency and accuracy as well as the applicability.

This book is a social and political history of the struggle for literacy in rural China from 1949 until 1994. It aims to show how China's revolutionary leaders conceived and promoted literacy in the countryside and how villagers made use of the literacy education and schools they were offered. Rather than focusing narrowly on educational issues alone, Peterson examines the larger significance of P.R.C. literacy efforts by situating the literacy movement within the broad context of major themes and issues in the social and political history of post-1949 China. Following the recent trend toward regional and local history, this book focuses on the linguistically diverse, socially complex, and politically awkward southeastern coastal province of Guangdong. As well, Peterson conducted interviews with local officials and teachers in several Guangdong counties in 1988 and 1989.
