Buku biografi Prof. Drs.
Ultrafine bubbles (UFBs) are gas-filled bubbles with a diameter smaller than 1 μm. They are sometimes called bulk nanobubbles because these are not on a solid surface but inside a bulk liquid (water). They are already being used in commercial processes such as cleaning and plant cultivation. However, many mysteries still exist with respect to UFBs, such as mechanisms of stability, OH radical formation, and biological and medical effects. This is the first book on UFBs that reviews research done on them. It is helpful for those interested in the fundamentals of this emerging field and its applications, including cleaning, biological, medical, and dental students and researchers.
The prize-winning history of the orchid: “an engaging and enlightening account of one of the Earth's most mythologized botanical wonders” (Richard Conniff, author of House of Lost Worlds). At once delicate, exotic, and elegant, orchids are beloved for their singular, instantly recognizable beauty. Found in nearly every climate, the many species of orchid have had varying forms of significance in countless cultures over time. Following the orchid’s journey from Ancient Greek medicine to twentieth century detective novels, science historian Jim Endersby explores the flower’s four recurring themes: science, empire, sex, and death. Orchids were a symbol of the exotic riches sought by 19t...
Microbubbles and nanobubbles have several characteristics that are comparable with millimeter- and centimeter-sized bubbles. These characteristics are their small size, which results in large surface area and high bioactivity, low rising velocity, decreased friction drag, high internal pressure, large gas dissolution capacity, negatively charged surface, and ability to be crushed and form free radicals. Microbubbles and nanobubbles have found applications in a variety of fields such as engineering, agriculture, environment, food, and medicine. Microbubbles have been successfully used in aquacultures of oysters in Hiroshima, scallops in Hokkaido, and pearls in Mie Prefecture, Japan. This field has shown a strong potential for growth. This book comprehensively discusses microbubbles and nanobubbles and their application in aquaculture, environment, engineering, medicine, stock raising, agriculture, and marine industry. It presents their potential as a new technology that can be utilized globally.
An information system with key data on the biology of all fishes. Covers more than 25,000 species of fish.
In this book, several functional foods or food ingredients, their mechanism of immune enhancing properties and use in food products have been discussed through seventeen chapters written by eminent authors. There are several medicinal plants which have significant role for immunity boosting such as Ashwagandha, Tulsi, Shatavari, Giloy, Aloe vera, Amla, Neem, licorice, garlic, ginger, turmeric, rosemary, black cumin, cinnamon, sage, thyme, fenugreek, peppermint, black pepper, clove etc. These have been discussed in detail. Note: T&F does not sell or distribute the hardback in India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
The proceedings of International Conference on Science, Education, and Technology 2019 are the compilation of articles in the internationally refereed conference dedicated to promote acceleration of scientific and technological innovation and the utilization of technology in assisting pedagogical process.
Plant tissue culture (PTC) technology has gained unassailable success for its various commercial and research applications in plant sciences. Plant growth regulators (PGRs) are an essential part of any plant tissue culture intervention for propagation or modification of plants. A wide range of PGRs are available, including aromatic compounds that show cytokinin activities, promote cell division and micro-propagation, viz. kinetin, N6-benzyladenine and topolins. Topolins are naturally occurring aromatic compounds that have gained popularity as an effective alternative for other frequently used cytokinins in in vitro culture of plants. Among them, meta-topolin [6-(3-hydroxybenzlyamino) purine] is the most popular and its use in plant tissue culture has amplified swiftly. During the last few decades, there have been numerous reports highlighting the effectiveness of meta-topolin in micropropagation and alleviation of various physiological disorders, rooting and acclimatization of tissue culture raised plants.
