Hi, Im Xian Wen and to whoevers reading this right now, we have probably not met. In fact, it is precisely the beauty of being able to reach out to you with this humble little nugget of a book, whoever and wherever you are, that got me lured into the whole business of writing. This book is close to my heart for it conveys my many intimate thoughts. To me, every memory and every idea is worth sharing beyond ourselves, as they only live on and flourish when expressed and exchanged. I hope this book offers a light-hearted stopover to all my readers, a safe place to imagine and wonder away from the everyday stresses of life. If it could leave you a happier person than you found it, then that to me, would be a wish fulfilled.
MonkeyBrain evolved from many years of working with hundreds of clients in the wellness industry as a lifestyle fitness coach, helping others improve their health and physiques. Over time I began to see that emotional well-being also had a direct affect on our physical health. For many years I recognized undeniable emotional patterns among many of my clients. Upon reflection, I also noticed these patterns in myself. One pattern that became apparent, time and again, was that most of us tend to spiral into negative thinking when we are stressed. I could see that we all react to imbalances and stress in much the same way. It almost seemed that we had an addiction to stress and we were always lo...

Ethics—in all its exemplary and exhausting forms—matters. It deals with the most gripping question in public life: “What is the right thing to do?” In Public Service Ethics: Individual and Institutional Responsibilities, James Bowman and Jonathan West examine individual-centered and organization-focused ethics, applying ideas and ideals from both to contemporary dilemmas. The authors take on controversial issues—from whistle blowing incidents to corruption exposés—to explain how they arise and suggest what can be done about them. They start with the conceptual tools students need to evaluate an ethical dilemma, then analyze individual decision making strategies, and go on to assess institutional ethics programs. The emphasis is not only on the “how to,” but also on the “why.” The ultimate goal is to bolster students’ confidence and prepare them for the ethical problems they will face in the future, by equipping them with the conceptual frameworks and context to approach thorny questions and behave ethically.
