This continuation of a series of comprehensive chronological reference works lists the results of men's chess competitions all over the world--individual and team matches. The present volume covers 1978 through 1980. Entries record location and, when available, the group that sponsored the event. First and last names of players are included whenever possible and are standardized for easy reference. Compiled from contemporary sources such as newspapers, periodicals, tournament records and match books, this work contains 855 tournament cross tables and 90 match scores, and is indexed by events and by players.

Reflecting on Lifelong Learning Discourses and Practices Across the World
This report summarises the highlights of the International Conference on Lifelong Learning : Global Perspectives on Education, which was held in Beijing and which focused on: sharing lifelong learning practices across nations and regions; exploring possible collaborative projects in the future; and monitoring recent developments. It includes a broad description of the discursive and development context of lifelong learning, underscoring regional differences, as well as an elaboration of the challenges facing the community of lifelong learning advocates. The second part of the report draws on this in outlining some implications for the European Union Memorandum of Lifelong Learning. This Memorandum contains six key messages: new basic skills for all, more investments in human resources, innovations in teaching and learning, valuing learning, rethinking guidance and counselling, and bringing learning closer to home.
