Love in the Limelight

Marion Hargreaves is a Hollywood legend and the finest actress of her generation. She’s navigated her career with aplomb for nearly thirty years by being intensely private about her personal life and her sexuality. But a year on from her third Oscar, nothing seems interesting anymore until she becomes a voice actor for Petunia’s Potion, an animated movie based on her favorite children’s book. That role becomes the challenge of a lifetime when she discovers her costar is the out and proud global pop icon Jessica Carmichael—the woman Marion fell in love with and whose heart she abruptly broke without explanation. The last thing Marion wants is to work in such close proximity to Jessica. She can’t forgive herself for the way she left twenty ago but can’t resist the attraction that has only gotten stronger with time. Being true to herself and her passions isn’t going to be easy and may set the stage for love in the limelight.

Northern Stars

Northern Stars tells the dramatic story of a Chartist March from Todmorden in West Yorkshire to London in 1839 seen through the eyes of two children aged ten and twelve. Ruth and Joshua Midgeley, ruthlessly thrown out of work, join a mass meeting on Todmorden market addressed by Feargus O’Connor the charismatic leader of the Chartist movement and publisher of the Northern Star newspaper. Together with their father and six other marchers from Todmorden they witness the break up by the soldiers of a mass meeting in Manchester and participate in a dangerous walk over Kinder Scout in Derbyshire to escape the military. They see the arrest of their father and others in Nottingham, arrive in London only to get arrested themselves and thrown into goal in Bow Street while the mass march supporting the Charter is charged by cavalry. On the way Ruth and Joshua meet children of their own age all caught up in dramatic situations in Manchester, Nottingham and London, and all victims of the incredible speed of industrialisation. They finally get back to Todmorden but are determined never to work as slave labour in the mills again.

Jung’s Red Book for Our Time

The spiritual malaise regnant in today’s disenchanted world presents a picture of “a polar night of icy darkness,” as Max Weber wrote already a century ago. In the wake of what policy analysts refer to as “Westlessness,” the postmodern age is characterized by incessant distractions, urgent calls to responsibility, and in-humanly short deadlines, which result in a general state of exhaustion and burnout. The hovering sense of living in a time frame that is post-histoire induces states of confusion on a personal level as we...
