This clinical casebook is comprised of surgical cases involving the most important cardiovascular diseases in a concise, easy-to-read format (5x8 in trim size, like other titles in this burgeoning, informal product line in the Springer clinical medicine program). Each chapter is a case that opens with a unique clinical presentation, followed by a description of the diagnosis, assessment and management techniques used to treat it, as well as questions and answers (between 8 and 10) about relevant aspects related to the diagnosis and treatment of the addressed disease. The Q&A section will broaden discussion and increase the title's pedagogical value. The casebook features 40 surgical cases in...

Because the benefits of therapy became apparent, implant treatment earned a widespread acceptance. Therefore, the need for dental implants has caused a rapid expansion of the market worldwide. Dental implantology continues to excel with the developments of new surgical and prosthodontic techniques, and armamentarium. The purpose of this book named Current Concepts in Dental Implantology is to present a novel resource for dentists who want to replace missing teeth with dental implants. It is a carefully organized book, which blends basic science, clinical experience, and current and future concepts. This book includes ten chapters and our aim is to provide a valuable source for dental students, post-graduate residents and clinicians who want to know more about dental implants.

It also offers an excellent source of innovative ideas to stimulate future discussions and developments aimed at applying knowledge and techniques to optimize sy...
This book reviews a selection of organic-geochemical investigations, dealing with the characterization and environmental behaviour of organic contaminations of German river and groundwater systems. Topics include comprehensive non-target screening as well as isotope analysis of contaminants in water and sediments, detailed characterisation of bound residues, recording riverine pollution histories and an extensive application of the anthropogenic marker approach.
This book constitutes extended, revised and selected papers from the 22nd International Conference on Enterprise Information Systems, ICEIS 2020, held online during May 5-7, 2020. The 41 papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected for inclusion in this book from a total of 255 submissions. They were organized in topical sections as follows: database and information systems integration; artificial intelligence and decision support systems; information systems analysis and specification; software agents and internet computing; human-computer interaction; and enterprise architecture.
Besides causing direct damage associated with blood feeding and in some cases through the excretion of toxins with their saliva, the main relevance of ticks lies in the wide variety of pathogens that they can transmit, including viruses, bacteria, protozoa and helminths. Owing to socioeconomic and environmental changes, tick distribution is changing with incursions of ticks and tick-borne diseases occurring in different regions of the world when the widespread deployment of chemical acaricides and repellents has led to the selection of resistance in multiple populations of ticks. New approaches that are environmentally sustainable and that provide broad protection against current and future tick-borne pathogen (TBP) are thus urgently needed. Such development, however, requires improved understanding of factors resulting in vector competence and tick-host-pathogen interactions. This Research Topic provides an overview of known molecular tick-host-pathogen interactions for a number of TBPs and highlights how this knowledge can contribute to novel control and prevention strategies for tick-borne diseases.
PLEA is a network of individuals sharing expertise in the arts, sciences, planning and design of the built environment. It serves as an international, interdisciplinary forum to promote discourse on environmental quality in architecture and planning. This 17th PLEA international conference addresses sustainable design with respect to architecture, city and environment at the turn of the millennium. The central aim of the conference is to explore the interrelationships and integration of architecture, city and environment. The Proceedings will be of interest to all those involved in bioclimatic design and the application of natural and innovative techniques to architecture and planning. The conference is organised by the Martin Centre for Architectural and Urban Studies, University of Cambridge and the Cambridge Programme for Industry, University of Cambridge.
