Doing Synodality
In recent years, the image of a Catholic Church needing renewal has deepened in the German public arena. The Synodal Path identified structural aspects underlying the ecclesial crisis and proposed solutions debating issues such as clerical power, sexuality, participation, and the role of women. Considering the importance of these deliberations for the universal Church and their controversial international discussion, the need for intercultural dialogue became increasingly clear. The empirical project "Synodal Way – Global Church Perspectives" aimed to weave the polyphony of Global-Church perspectives into the debate. This volume presents the research's results and their analysis by academics from different world regions, fills a gap in intercultural mediation, and offers an inspiring contribution to the ongoing synodal dialogue.

Theologische Studien zu bioethischen und medizinischen Fragestellungen vernachlässigen oft den Aspekt der Gesundheit der Bevölkerung(en). Andererseits hat die Covid-19-Pandemie das Ausmaß der Vernetzung zwischen Völkern und Nationen gezeigt. Trotz zahlreicher Studien zu den ethischen, sozialen und medizinischen Herausforderungen einer globalen Pandemie gibt es immer noch eine bemerkenswerte Lücke in der Reflexion über die Rolle der katholischen Kirche sowohl hinsichtlich der öffentlichen als auch der globalen Gesundheit. Die Beiträge geben Denkanstöße aus moraltheologischer, bioethischer und missionstheologischer Perspektive sowie aus der Sicht einer Gesundheitspastoral und eines sozialen Engagements der Kirche. Der Band erscheint in englischer Sprache.
Religious Freedom and Populism
Populism is a growing threat to human rights. They are appropriated, distorted, turned into empty words or even their opposite. The contributors to this volume examine these practices using the example of freedom of religion or belief, a human right that has become a particular target of right-wing populists and extremists worldwide. The contributions not only show the rhetorical patterns of appropriation and distortion, but also demonstrate for various countries which social dynamics favor the appropriation in each case and propose how to strengthen human rights and the culture of debate in democratic societies.

Political Pentecostalism
The last decade has witnessed fundamental shifts in the relationship between religion and politics. In this light, religious symbols, motifs, justifications, and practices are increasingly noticeable in political discourses, as well as agendas, particularly in the Global South, with Pentecostal Christians standing out as salient actors. Performative practices enacted in political contexts such as the anointing of state authorities, prophecies, warfare prayers, etc. have drawn the attention of numerous scholars worldwide. The four surveys contained in this volume account for these developments in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, and synoptically engage with the following question: Can any meaningful nexus connecting multiple and apparently isolated nodes of Pentecostal engagement in the political sphere around the globe be identified? In addition, they do the groundwork for drawing parallels on a global level, on the basis of which new light can be shed on fundamental changes in Pentecostal actorhood and self-understanding. Thus, local developments and ethnographic studies are for the first time reflected upon from a global perspective.
