This book intends to look into CLIL teaching professional practice through the prism of reflection. It offers a comprehensive coverage of a CLIL teacher’s features, their attitudes to the approach, teaching methodology, assessment, materials development, cooperation with other CLIL and non-CLIL teachers, professional development, expectations and beliefs. Furthermore, it focuses on CLIL teachers’ positive and negative emotions experienced in relation to CLIL. As a CLIL trainer I spend a lot of time with CLIL teachers trying to guide them in the process of teaching in CLIL but also to help them face many challenges and overcome obstacles which often discourage them from working in the CLIL environment. Being greatly inspired by the ongoing research in the field but also by my CLIL trainee teachers I felt there was a need to conduct such research and make the reader reflect on his/her own teaching experiences in CLIL.
Although Gender Studies have found their way into most domains of academic research and teaching, they are not directly in the spotlight of foreign language teaching pedagogy and research. However, teachers are confronted with gender issues in the language classroom everyday. By the use of language alone, they construct or deconstruct gender roles; with the choice of topics they shape gender identities in the classroom; and their ways of approaching pupils clearly mirrors their gender sensitivity. The book "Gender and Language Learning" aims at raising awareness towards gender issues in different areas of foreign language teaching and learning. The primary objective of the book is to spark university students', trainee teachers' and in-service teachers' analysis and reflection of gender relations in the foreign language learning and teaching section.

The study of informal involvement with additional languages has recently emerged as a dynamic research field in SLA. With the rapid development and spread of internet-based technologies, contact with foreign languages outside the classroom has become commonplace. While this can take multiple forms, online contents are a major driving force because they present learners with unprecedented opportunities for exposure to and use of target languages regardless of their physical location. Research from diverse geographical, educational and socio-economic contexts bring a rich variety of perspectives to this book.
