In this book emphasis will be put in the relevance of Plant Biotechnology for producing compounds of pharmaceutical and industrial relevance specifically the contribution of in vitro plant cell cultures for producing recombinant proteins (molecular farming) and compounds produced by plants useful for human and animal health (secondary metabolites) will be discussed. Also the description of some process held by whole plants will be included. The aim will be to provide relevant theoretical frameworks and the latest empirical research findings for professionals and researchers working in the field of Plant Biotechnology, molecular farming and biochemical engineering.
Genetic transformation of plants has revolutionized both basic and applied plant research. Plant molecular biology and physiology benefit from this power fool, as well as biotechnology. This book is a review of some of the most significant achievements that plant transformation has brought to the fields of Agrobacterium biology, crop improvement and, flower, fruit and tree amelioration. Also, it examines their impact on molecular farming, phytoremediation and RNAi tools.
The aim of this book is to offer information about the Pharmacological Properties of Native Plants from Argentina to students, researchers and graduates interested in the fields of Ethnobotany, Pharmacognosy, Phytochemistry, Pharmacy, and Medicine. The book includes summary information about the native plants from Argentina with medical activity comprising their botanical characteristics, distribution, characteristics of the regions where they grow, ethnobotanical information, chemical data, biological activity, establishment of in vitro cultures, toxicity, and legal status.
This volume, as the seventh of the series Medicinal and Aromatic Plants of the World, deals with the medicinal and aromatic plant (MAPs) treasures of the so-called Southern Cone, the three southernmost countries (Argentina, Chile and Uruguay) of South America. Similarly to the previous volumes of the series, the main focus is to collect and provide information on major aspects of botany, traditional usage, chemistry, production / collection practices, trade and utilization of this specific group of plants. The contributors, who are recognized professionals and specialist of the domain, have collected and present state of the art information on 41 species. Most of these are not only of interest from the scientific point of view, but hold also a potential for the prospective utilization of the decreasing, occasionally overexploited / endangered medicinal plant resources of this huge continent. The book is expected to serve as a source of information also on some less known or less studied species. As such the volume is expected to support future research and public health professionals.
This important book offers economists both a wealth of new source material and a fresh perspective on the modern global economy. It includes contributions from a wide range of international authors.
This issue of ECS Transactions comprises a selection of peer-reviewed papers presented at the 25th national meeting of the Mexican Electrochemical Society (MES) and the 3rd meeting of the Mexican Section of The Electrochemical Society (ECS) that was held in the colonial city of Zacatecas, Mexico, from May 31 to June 4, 2010.
The Proceedings of the ICM publishes the talks, by invited speakers, at the conference organized by the International Mathematical Union every 4 years. It covers several areas of Mathematics and it includes the Fields Medal and Nevanlinna, Gauss and Leelavati Prizes and the Chern Medal laudatios.
