Milton S. Terry (1840-1914) was an Old Testament and hermeneutics scholar. This work is a preterist commentary on the Apocalypse (i.e., the Book of Revelation), which is the most Old Testament-oriented work in the New Testament. By frequently accessing Revelation's Old Testament backdrop, Terry provides a bull commentary that demonstrates that Revelation is a prophecy focusing on the coming destruction Jewish Temple in AD 70. Though he sees a portion of the last three chapters as touching on the future which was distant from the Apostle John's time, he sees Revelation's main concern as explaining the completion of the old covenant order in the establishing of the new covenant.

The Sibylline Oracles

This is the extended and annotated edition including * an extensive annotation of almost 10.000 words about the oracles in religion * an interactive table-of-contents * perfect formatting for electronic reading devices THE Sibyls occupy a conspicuous place in the traditions and history of ancient Greece and Rome. Their fame was spread abroad long before the beginning of the Christian era. The ancient traditions vary in reporting the number and the names of these we...

Biblical Hermeneutics, Second Edition

This practical textbook is "the most exhaustive single work in our language on the history of the interpretation of the Scriptures." So affirms Dr. Wilbur M. Smith, well-known Bible scholar. Milton S. Terry's book on 'Biblical Hermeneutics' (the science of interpretation) is conveniently divided into three main areas: Part I -- Introduction to Biblical Hermeneutics Part II -- Principles of Biblical Hermeneutics Part III -- History of Biblical Interpretation This ideal standard textbook abstains from dogmatism and adheres strictly to the method of scientific and conscientious inquiry. It ranks as a classic in its field. Adapted to meet the practical needs of most students studying the Word of God, 'Biblical Hermeneutics' is a model text for interpreting the Bible.

Property Rights

  • Categories: Law

The institution of property is as old as mankind, and property rights are today deemed vital to a prosperous economic system. Much has been written in the last decade on the economics of the legal institutions protecting such rights. This unprecedented book provides a magnificent introduction to the subject. Terry Anderson and Fred McChesney have gathered twelve leading thinkers to explore how property rights arise, and how they bolster economic development. As the subtitle indicates, the book examines as well how controversies over valuable property rights are resolved: by agreement, by violence, or by law. The essays begin by surveying the approaches to property taken by early political ec...
