O modelo de notário e atividade notarial analisado em torno desta obra é o latino. O conceito de atividade notarial na sua essência e no sentido que lhe atribuímos abrange, em sentido amplo, o controlo da legalidade efetuado pelo notário, a preparação, a redação e a conservação dos atos notariais, e está associada à facilitação ou simplificação destes atos, na medida em que estes a envolvem.
