This volume, a celebration of Anthony Joseph’s fundamental influence on classical and quantized representation theory, explores a wide array of current topics in Lie theory by experts in the area. The chapters are based on the 2017 sister conferences titled “Algebraic Modes of Representations,” the first of which was held from July 16-18 at the Weizmann Institute of Science and the second from July 19-23 at the University of Haifa. This volume contains the proceedings of the AMS Special Session on Higher Structures in Topology, Geometry, and Physics, held virtually on March 26–27, 2022. The articles give a snapshot survey of the current topics surrounding the mathematical formulation of field theories. There is an intricate interplay between geometry, topology, and algebra which captures these theories. The hallmark are higher structures, which one can consider as the secondary algebraic or geometric background on which the theories are formulated. The higher structures considered in the volume are generalizations of operads, models for conformal field theories, string topology, open/closed field theories, BF/BV formalism, actions on Hochschild complexes and related complexes, and their geometric and topological aspects.
This volume contains the proceedings of the ICM 2018 satellite school and workshop K-theory conference in Argentina. The school was held from July 16–20, 2018, in La Plata, Argentina, and the workshop was held from July 23–27, 2018, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. This volume contains the proceedings of the conference Perspectives in Representation Theory, held from May 12-17, 2012, at Yale University, in honor of Igor Frenkel's 60th birthday. The aim of the conference was to present current progress on the following (interrelated) topics: vertex operator algebras and chiral algebras, conformal field theory, the (geometric) Langlands program, affine Lie algebras, Kac-Moody algebras, quantum groups, crystal bases and canonical bases, quantum cohomology and K-theory, geometric representation theory, categorification, higher-dimensional Kac-Moody theory, integrable systems, quiver varieties, representations of real and -adic groups, and quantum gauge theories. This open access book offers a self-contained introduction to the homotopy theory of simplicial and dendroidal sets and spaces. These are essential for the study of categories, operads, and algebraic structure up to coherent homotopy. The dendroidal theory combines the combinatorics of trees with the theory of Quillen model categories. Dendroidal sets are a natural generalization of simplicial sets from the point of view of operads. In this book, the simplicial approach to higher category theory is generalized to a dendroidal approach to higher operad theory. The papers in this volume are based on the talks given at the conference on quantum groups dedicated to the memory of Joseph Donin, which was held at the Technion Institute, Haifa, Israel in July 2004. A survey of Donin's distinguished mathematical career is included. Several articles, which were directly influenced by the research of Donin and his colleagues, deal with invariant quantization, dynamical $R$-matrices, Poisson homogeneous spaces, and reflection equation algebras. The topics of other articles include Hecke symmetries, orbifolds, set-theoretic solutions to the pentagon equations, representations of quantum current algebras, unipotent crystals, the Springer resolution, the Fourier transform on Hopf algebras, and, as a change of pace, the combinatorics of smoothly knotted surfaces.
