Corrosion studies have attracted considerable interest in the areas of materials chemistry and industrial chemistry, as it affects the direct and indirect costs of industry, leading to huge economic setbacks due to the need for repair, maintenance, and even shutdowns due corrosion damage. This new volume is a comprehensive resource that presents new and up-to-date, theoretical, and experimental corrosion inhibition studies. Corrosion Science: Theoretical and Practical Applications provides an introduction and overview of corrosion science and presents theoretical and experimental studies to mitigate damage from corrosion. Taking an interdisciplinary perspective, this volume is a rich resourc...
The fourth edition of this work emphasizes the general practices and instrumentation involving TLC and HPTLC, as well as their applications based on compound types, while providing an understanding of the underlying theory necessary for optimizing these techniques. The book details up-to-date qualitative and quantitative densitometric experiments on organic dyes, lipids, antibiotics, pharmaceuticals, organic acids, insecticides, and more.
The present edited book is the presentation of 18 in-depth national and international contributions from eminent professors, scientists and instrumental chemists from educational institutes, research organizations and industries providing their views on their experience, handling, observation and research outputs on HPTLC, a multi-dimensional instrumentation. The book describes the recent advancements made on TLC which have revolutionized and transformed it into a modern instrumental technique HPTLC. The book addresses different chapters on HPTLC fundamentals: principle, theory, understanding; instrumentation: implementation, optimization, validation, automation and qualitative and quantitative analysis; applications: phytochemical analysis, biomedical analysis, herbal drug quantification, analytical analysis, finger print analysis and potential for hyphenation: HPTLC future to combinatorial approach, HPTLC-MS, HPTLC-FTIR and HPTLC-Scanning Diode Laser. The chapters in the book have been designed in such away that the reader follows each step of the HPTLC in logical order.
Nanomaterials and nanocomposite materials have been developed as corrosion inhibitors and are the most noble and effective alternatives to traditional organic corrosion inhibitors. Nanomaterials provide reasonably high anticorrosive activity in both aqueous and solution phases. A unified approach to this task is lacking, however, which highlights the role of all disciplines involved in the creation and use of corrosion protection coatings for metals. Fouling is the process of accumulating unwanted material that is mostly non-living and comprised of detritus and organic or inorganic compounds, or organisms, such as tiny viruses up to giant kelps. This book covers both the processes of biofouling and anti(bio)fouling, and the devices that stop the biofouling process. This book provides a missing synopsis by providing an understanding of the anticorrosive and anti-biofouling effects of nanomaterials and nanocomposites under different environments. It features an up-to-date picture of the quality and chemistry of a substrate surface, its proper preparation by conversion treatment, the function of resins and anticorrosive pigments in paints, and novel concepts for corrosion protection.
The Biotechnology Annual Review covers the various developments in biotechnology in the form of comprehensive, illustrated and well referenced reviews. With the expansion of the field of biotechnology, coupled with the vast increase in the number of new journals reporting recent results in this field, the need for a publication that is continuously providing reviews is urgent. Hence, each volume of the Biotechnology Annual Review will have a number of reviews covering different aspects of biotechnology. Reviewed topics will include biotechnology applications in medicine, agriculture, marine biology, industry, bioremedation and the environment. Fundamental problems dealing with enhancing the ...
This book consists of fifteen chapters. In this collection of academic research reviews, we embark on an illuminating journey through a tapestry of societal, educational, economic, and behavioral dimensions. Each chapter, offering nuanced insights and scholarly examinations. The chapters within this compendium traverse a broad spectrum of subjects, encompassing the multifaceted landscape of contemporary society. From probing the depths of human behavior in the digital realm to scrutinizing educational paradigms and delving into the intricate dynamics of financial ecosystems, these chapters serve as portals into understanding our ever-evolving world. We begin with an exploration into the unde...
This book provides a summarized information related to the global herbal drug market and its regulations, ethnopharmacology of traditional crude drugs, isolation of phytopharmaceuticals, phytochemistry, standardization, and quality assessment of crude drugs. Natural products science has constantly been developing with comprehensive data contemplating different parts of natural drugs, such as global trade, quality control and regulatory concerns, traditional medicine systems, production and utilization of drugs, and utilization of medicinal and aromatic plants. This broad information about crude drugs gives rise to a subject that is now recognized as advance natural products science. By conte...
This handbook provides a comprehensive and thorough survey of our current insights into the diversity and unity found across the 6000 languages of this planet. The 125 articles include inter alia chapters on the patterns and limits of variation manifested by analogous structures, constructions and linguistic devices across languages (e.g. word order, tense and aspect, inflection, color terms and syllable structure). Other chapters cover the history, methodology and the theory of typology, as well as the relationship between language typology and other disciplines. The authors of the individual sections and chapters are for the most part internationally known experts on the relevant topics. The vast majority of the articles are written in English, some in French or German. The handbook is not only intended for the expert in the fields of typology and language universals, but for all of those interested in linguistics. It is specifically addressed to all those who specialize in individual languages, providing basic orientation for their analysis and placing each language within the space of what is possible and common in the languages of the world.
