Ide untuk menyusun buku ini pertama kali muncul ketika penulis diminta untuk mengampu matakuliah Sertifikasi pada jenjang S1 Seni Rupa di Universitas Telkom, Bandung. Saat pertama kali mengajar matakuliah tersebut memang dirasa agak sukar untuk memberikan pengertian kepada para mahasiswa berkaitan dengan contoh-contoh dan pentingnya sertifikasi profesi.
